January 1st 1902
Wed. Spent first day of the new year in camp at Huntsmans (?) Ranch in the Meadow Valley wash waiting orders.

Friday 3rd Rcvd orders to move on towards Pioche.

Sat. 4th began our march up the wash. Camped at Calientes.

Sun. 5th The photographer took several snaps of us on our way.

Jan 5
up the line.
Passed through Panaca about 2 pm and reached Delmen's ranch at 6 pm where we pitched camp to remain awhile.

Had to chop our wagons and horses out of the ice on our way up the canyon.

Mon. 6th Went back to Calientes after supplies.

Tues. 7 In attempting to come across the hills from Panaca to avoid the ice, I found it further than anticipated and awhile after dark I ran up on a pond of ice which was on the old road and consequently was forced to stay out all night or until day light to see where I was. The pond turned out to be the Panaca reservoir located at the Eastern of the Delmean Ranch not over nine hundred feet from the farm house and our camp.

Jan 7th
I found I was within a half mile of camp but was compelled to go about five miles around to get there with the wagon

May 8th 1902
Have neglected writing in my diary since January 7th So will just briefly sketch what I have been doing since then.

We finished work at Delmer's Friday Jan 17th and moved back to Calientes Where orders awaited us to move back into California and make some changes in the old line.
