June to October 14th 1901

Continues from previous post: "narrowly missed serious..."

...injury by the tipping over of a load of pilling I was hauling around a side hill. 

Have put in a considerable of  ? time hauling bridge timper. Am driving my favorite team again. Marge and Tobe agan have been doing so for last three weeks. 

For last three six nights have bin hoisting the hammer on the pile-driver. 

This after noon while making preparations to lie down awhile, Mr. Stradley Civil Engineer O. S. S. R. R. came along and wanted a teamster to drive for him. I was selected and so will start for his camp to-morrow. 

June 11th

Settled with the A. C. Drew my check for $49.65 and started for the location camp. Sam Carson's ranch on Meadow Valley Wash. 

 

June 12th 1901 

Reached Stradley's camp at Bradshaw's ranch. 

13 Made preparations to start for California. 

14 Started out and reached Kernan's well. 

16. Camped at Huntsman's ranch Meadow Valley Wash. 

17. Reached the Muddy River about 3 P. M. Nearly all of us took a bath in it which was very refreshing considering the heat and dust in which we had been traveling.

18. Camped out on the desert at the dry lake. 

19. Reached Los Vagus. 

20. Stayed at the Vagus all day eating fruit and so on, then traveled over to Cottonwood Springs, a distance of 20 miles. 

21. Layed over in daytime...

June 21 and then traveled 30 miles further on to Good Springs.

22. Reached Murphy's well California. Crossed the line about 3 o'clock P.M.

Sun. 23 Stayed at camp at the well. 

24 Reached out destination at noon on the summit below Marvel. 

25. Hauled water us

26. wl have a dry damp.

28. Moved back to a vacated stage-station two mile above Murphy's well. 

29. Hauled the survey party to and from the line. 

July 1st and 2nd

Hauled load of water. Went out on the line. 

4 Spent the 4th along the sun-parched shores of dry lake while the thermometer registered 130 degrees. 

Sept. 2 Moved from the old Quarts mill below Marvel to Morrel Spring summit. 15 miles. 

Oct. 14th Moved camp to Government-holes road. 10 Miles.
